Contemporary Clapham Garden
Designed by Paul Duffy, the garden was designed around a simple materials and planting palette to create a clean modern feel.
The client asked for an easy to maintain space that could be an extension of the house giving room for relaxing, cooking and socialising.
The garden is split into two distinct areas, the deck which gives an elevated view of the garden and can be used for dining and the lower paved area which is centred much more around relaxing and socialising on the built in corner bench.
The planting is simple but effective. A Yew (Taxus) hedge creates a divide between the two spaces but still allows for communication between them. Climbing plants add interest to the vertical boundaries and herbaceous planting of Pachysandra, Astrantia and Ferns provide a dark geen carpet that compliments the grey/black Basalt paving.
